Building Dashboard® highlighted in Fortune and CNNMoney.com
March 19, 2007
Atlanta, GA - Lucid's Building Dashboard® system is highlighted in an article, titled "The first certifiably green mansion," in the March issue of Fortune Magazine, and in an accompanying CNNMoney.com video on EcoManor, the first LEED® certified residence in the Southeast. From the article:
"...Rutherford [Seydel] views their new home as a sort of energy toy. His favorite gizmo, in the kitchen, is a 15-inch monitor that measures and controls the family's energy costs per second - "down to a hundredth of a cent," Rutherford boasts. "If the kids have a party in the basement, I can tell how much the party cost."
Lucid's interactive Building Dashboard® display system for EcoManor is intended to demonstrate the feasibility and profitability of building green. The web-accessible Building Dashboard® interface continually displays "live" resource use on each floor of the home; calculates money earned from solar photovoltaic, water recycling and geothermal heating and cooling systems; translates resource use into everyday currencies, such as equivalent number of light bulbs, carbon dioxide and money; and displays current weather conditions and forecasts.
Located in Atlanta, EcoManor is the first residence in the region to utilize both solar and geothermal energy to power its daily energy use. The home will be used as an educational tool for builders, architects and designers, vendors, landscapers, homeowners and the public at large.
