Google, Inc. uses Lucid's Building Dashboard® to pursue energy efficiency and change occupant behavior

Mountain View, CA - For the past two years, Lucid Design Group has played an integral role in Google, Inc.'s energy efficiency efforts. Lucid's Building Dashboard® is being used by facilities managers and employees at Google's Mountain View campus, as well as several of its North American field offices, to manage and reduce resource consumption.
Employees at Google's Boulder, Colorado office have been using Building Dashboard to identify ways in which they can reduce plug load consumption. In one example of a program meant to change occupant behavior, employees unplugged their computer screens and other unused devices on Friday evening before the weekend. When they returned Monday morning, they observed a 7% drop in consumption compared to a typical weekend. Powering down at the end of the work week has become standard practice at the Boulder office.
Google continues to expand its use of Building Dashboard in other buildings and campuses across the country. By utilizing the socially-contextualized Building Dashboard, Google is able to engage, educate, motivate and empower their employees to contribute to the company's energy efficiency goals.
